Visiting Vienna

Visiting Vienna is another trip that I would like to recommend. The city offers many interesting for traveller who likes about culture, history and culinary.

Hello traveller,

I did not plan it but I visited Vienna two times when I was pregnant. So, Vienna was the destination city for my first and second babymoon. I enjoyed it much the city eventhough I was in the middle of morning sickness.

I felt the atmosphere of the city was different. Although I was not in my top condition, I still could see many interesting places and enjoy the beautiful of Vienna. The city has many historical places, tpurist attractions and cultural events. When I was walking around the city center, I can feel the old times feeling. It was nice.

Culture and history are two things Vienna is known for. Meanwhile, food is something that adds value to Vienna because of its multiculturalism.

Why Visiting Vienna?

I was always curious about Vienna before I had the opprtunity to visit this beautiful city. The city is actually a typical big city in Europe. I knew it for sure. However, I always wanted to travel here because I assumed interseting things would be found once I visited the city.

Part of my curiosity was answered when an author, Hanum Rais and her husband, published a book recounting her life experiences while living in Vienna. They mentioned and described interesting places in the city with interesting and influencing sentences. I, who love exploring tourist attractions, googled these places and became even more interested.

Moreover, the story in this book was finally filmed. The interesting places were visualised well in the film. From the film, I could see the beauty and attractiveness of Vienna. I even more wanted to visit this city especially after I moved to live in Germany which is a neighbouring country.

Vienna is the capital of large and developed country in Europe. You can see the bustle of a big city as soon as you arrive. Modern buildings, old places and historical landmarks stand side by side. People are milling here and there. Traffic is heavy and public transport is plentiful.

But I found Vienna to be calm, quiet, and soothing. People move quickly but at a pace that is not typical of a big city. It’s not fast but also not slow. So, there is no need to be grumpy.

Schönbrunn Palace

The city has lots of historical landmarks. It was a capital city of famous Habsburg empire. Some places are related to the history of the first and second world war. If you are a history fans, Vienna will amuse you with the history.

The last reason for me is culinary. Vienna has many restaurants with different specialities and national origins. Why not do a culinary tour while you’re here?

Oh, one more thing why I visited Vienna is because my husband and I have friends who live here. Maintaining friendship is another important reason for us when choosinf travel destination.

Transportation

Travellers do not have to worry about public transportation. Vienna has trams, busses and U Bahn. They connect each other.

Information on the bus stop, tram, and U Bahn station were easy to follow. You can download Vienna public transportation’s app or simply search at Google Maps. Since Vienna is a big city, please expect longer travel time between tourist attractions.

However, how to reach Vienna?

In my experience, we went to Vienna from Salzburg. We used express train, Railjet. It was a comfort and convenient train journey.

I think we should plan to stay at least three days in Vienna. Within these three days, especially in summer, we can visit and explore a lot of things in this city. If you want to do more, of course, you need to stay longer.

What you need to know is that the cost of living in Austria compared to Germany is more expensive. For example, I could not find 4 Euro Döner. Hotels and hostels cost more expensive.

I will tell you about my trip in Vienna soon!

Happy travelling,

Amelia
