Uzbek Eats Berlin

Eating at Uzbek Eats Berlin was one of culinary check list in Berlin. This place serves halal Uzbek cuisine. The kind of food I can’t find in Hannover up to now.

Hello traveller,

I love tasting food from other countries or specifically other than any food I usually eat at home. By trying different cuisines from any other part of the world, I have a wider range of food references. It influences the list of dishes I want to cook at home.

Since living in Germany, I have had the opportunity to try different types of food from many countries. Not only European foods, we have many options here for example Afghan cuisine, Persian food, African cuisine, Indian and Pakistani food etc. Indeed, not all of them have an authentic taste anymore. The restaurant should adapt to the local tongue here in Germany.

However, if you diligently taste the food in different places, you can eventually find out the taste of food that is close to the original taste. At the very least, I can tell which ones taste not so good, good or very good.

One of the foods that I have long wanted to taste is food from Uzbekistan. Because of a friend’s post on social media while on holiday in Uzbekistan featuring the country’s cuisine, I was drooling to try Uzbek cuisine. However, I cannot find any Uzbek restaurant in Hannover.

Finding Uzbek Eats Berlin

One day, I saw a video on Instagram featuring restaurants serving Uzbek cuisine in Berlin. I was immediately curious and happy. From that one Instagram Reel post, I read the comments of the diners about the restaurant and its food.

All the written comments gave a good review. Everyone wrote that the food was delicious. There was even an Uzbek who had tried it and said the flavour was authentic an Uzbek food. Some visitors write that the food is always cooked fresh. The portions given are also filling at a good price.

From the comments, I could also tell that the restaurant can guarantee serving halal foods. Reading the reviews and seeing the pictures in Instagram made me want to taste the food at Uzbek Eats as soon as possible. I immediately noted down the address and put it on my list of culinary tours in Berlin.

Location

The opportunity to go to Berlin arrived. Last week we went to Berlin to see the final of European Cup. We stayed in Berlin for three days and two nights. I prioritised Uzbek Eats as the first stop after we came to Berlin because the last time we visited Berlin the restaurant was already closed.

Uzbek Eats is located in Grunewaldstrasse 35, Berlin. It is not far from the central of Berlin and surrounding by U-Bahn station and Bus stops.

We took the bus M85 S Lichterfelde Süd from Berlin central station to the Dominicusstrasse stop. Then, we changed to the bus M46 S+U Zoologischer Garten and rode the bus for around three minutes. We stopped at the Grunewaldstrasse bus stop.

As an alternative, you can go there by U-Bahn. Take U7 and stop at U Eisenacher Strasse station. From the U Eisenacher Strasse the distance is about 300 metres. It is walkable. You can walk along the roadside, it’s not difficult to find the restaurant.

The Restaurant

Uzbek Eats is a mini restaurant. When I opened the door of the restaurant on the right side, there is a place to eat there which is enough for 3-4 people only. To the left of the door is the kitchen where they cook the food.

The list of food that can be ordered is not many. We ordered Taschkent Plov. I paid 10 Euros for one portion. The restaurant accepts debit cards and cash payments.

Interestingly, the salesman greeted me in Indonesian. It turned out that he had travelled to Malaysia so he could master Malay and a little Indonesian. He also talked with my husband and my son in Indonesian. He is nice.

In less than 15 minutes, our food was ready to go. The smell of the food made me impatient to eat it. Finally, I can eat Tashkent Plov again!

The portions were generous and filling!

I immediately noticed the sliced toppings of spring onions and other leaves on top of the generous slices of meat. Amongst the rice there were also slices of something that looked like chillies but it wasn’t because it wasn’t spicy at all.

If I ever go to Berlin again, Uzbek Eats will definitely be one of the restaurants I go to. I still want to try Lagman, Ganpon, Manti and Samsa. All those dishes got good responses on Instagram and Google comments. I’m even more curious and hopefully I’ll still have the fortune to taste all these foods.

Culinary: Wondeo Chickin.
