Our hotel in Salzburg was a famous hotel chain in Germany. The location is far from the city center of Salzburg. However, the price was good and the atmosphere was convenient.

Since our family already has a favorite hotel chain, whenever we plan a holiday, I usually will first look at the official website of this hotel chain. They usually offer good price compared to other hotels. However, it doesn’t mean that I stick only to our hotel chain only. I also look alternatives by searching other hotels.
In Europe especially in Germany and the neighbor countries, there are several hotel chains that I would recommend for accommodation. Among the many hotels available, I will usually take a peek at their official website before comparing it with search sites, such as booking.com.
Our Hotel in Salzburg
After comparing prices and locations, our choice was Meininger. This Meininger hotel chain is a family-friendly hotel. The hotel interiors are not made to look like luxury hotels. The interiors are contemporary, simple, relaxing and in some cities feel homey.
The facilities offered in all the hotels are usually the same. My favourite is the guest kitchen and communal dining area which can be used by anyone staying there.
Both the kitchen and the dining area can be separate or in the same room. Both are fully equipped with crockery and cutlery. There is a stove and a microwave for cooking. I definitely made use of both to prepare family meals. This holiday to Austria I even brought an extra microwave rice cooker. So I can still cook rice plus cook simple side dishes.
Besides that, the most important thing is the room and the bed. My son gets his own bed. If we are lucky, we get a bunk bed which my son loves. For the location of the hotel, I think it’s quite okay considering that across the hotel is a supermarket. If I’m not mistaken, it’s a Lidl supermarket like the ones in Germany. So it’s not a hassle if you want to buy drinking water or ingredients for meals in the hotel room. However, to get to this hotel from the city centre, you should take the bus. The bus journey is not long. The bus stop is right opposite the hotel too.
When we booked a room at the Meininger Salzburg City Centre hotel, the price we got was quite okay. Not expensive and not cheap either. Still within our budget at the time. The good thing about staying at this Meininger chain family hotel is the discounted price for those who bring children. If you bring a child under a certain age, you will get a percentage discount. This is definitely not bad at all!
When we stayed there, we got a price of 152 Euros for two nights. The type of room we booked was a triple bed room. All three of us were satisfied with the hotel and room facilities.
