Metronom, A Regional Train in Germany

Metronom is one of regional train in Germany. If I go to Hamburg or Goettingen from Hannover using regional train, I can go with the yellow blue train Metronom.

Hello traveller,

Today I had some business in Goettingen, a city located in the south of Hannover. Since I went alone and was not in a hurry, I preferred to go by train. I have a Deutschland ticket and this ticket covers the regional train between Hannover and Goettingen.

The name of the regional train which serves Hannover – Goettingen is Metronom. It can be easily recognized by the color of the train, which is mostly yellow and blue. The train is big and has lots of capacity because it is a double-decker train. With this train, Hannover – Goettingen takes about one and a half hours.

This train does not only serve the track Hannover – Goettingen. If I want to go to Hamburg, one of the train options is Metronom. The same train will continue the journey until the final stop in Uelzen. The passenger who wants to continue the journey to Hamburg should change the train here.

In the Hannover central station, the Metronom stops on platforms 3 – 4 or 7 – 8. Metronom to Goettingen usually stops at platforms 3- 4. If I want to go to Hamburg by Metronom, I should go to platforms 7 – 8.

I need to tell you some tips: Don’t forget to check the big blue screen in the great hall of the central station before taking an elevator to go to the platforms. Sometimes there is a possibility of platform changes. When there is a change, we can see it on the screen. Another tip is to take a look at the small screen at the wall near the platform 3- 4 or 7 – 8.

Happy travelling,

Amelia
