There are many hotels near the Schipol Amsterdam airport. My family and I had to stay at one of the hotels several times to pick up my mother. Based on my experience, I would like to share my experience of staying in the Amsterdam airport area.

My mother often comes to Germany to visit us. Instead of choosing airlines that land directly in Germany, she always flies with the national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia. She feels more comfortable with the direct flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam even though it takes about 13 hours.
The hospitality and friendliness of the cabin crew is distinctly Indonesian. The food served is of course Indonesian, which suits my mother’s liking.
Although after arriving in Amsterdam my mother still had to take another road trip to Hannover for about 5 hours, she was fine with it. I hope she is always in good health so that she can travel to Germany again.
My mother often travelled from Amsterdam to Hannover and vice versa using public transport, either train or bus. We could not always pick her up at Schipol. However, since the pandemic, we have mostly picked up and taken her back by car.
Garuda Indonesia’s morning flight schedule meant that we needed to stay overnight. Actually, it was possible to travel from the very early hours of the morning. However, we chose not to take that option. We were worried about the risk of delays due to any challenges during the trip or perhaps oversleeping.
Hotels Near Amsterdam Airport
There are many accommodation options at Schipol. If we are ready to spend lots of money, the choice will depend on our preferences or needs on how to choose them. We can choose those hotels within the airport area or those hotels surrounding the airport area. If you consider the quality of the hotels based on their stars of the hotel, the alternatives also vary.
If we are on a tight budget, it does not mean that we do not have any options. There are also not so expensive hotels that we can choose located in the surrounding area of the airport. I think for an overnight stay it does not really matter.
As an overview, if you want to stay in a hotel within the airport area, then you must be prepared to spend a lot of money. It can be more than 100€ per night for one room. Amsterdam is a city where accommodation is quite expensive, for me. Therefore, I prefer to stay in a cosy hotel, close by but not too far away from the airport which offers a reasonable price. A price that we can afford it.

Ibis Budget and Ibis Schipol
We always stay either in Ibis Budget Schipol or Ibis Schipol. As usual, whenever my family travels out of town, I search for accommodation through the website booking.com. From the list of the hotels shown on the site, either Ibis Budget or Ibis Schipol offers accommodation prices that are affordable for me.
Both of the hotels are located on the same site. Even the entrance to the hotel complex is only one. I found the location of the hotels to be good. The distance between the hotel and the airport is not far. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the parking area of Schipol.
From the hotel, we could see rows of parked aircraft and the vast airport building. My son likes to see the airplane.
If you are worried about the noise, just forget it. My family and I always slept peacefully during our stay. It proves that we did not hear any noise from the aircraft departing, flying, or landing.
Another point plus from the hotel is that the hotel provides a shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. There are many buses so you don’t have to worry about not being transported. I suggest calculating the time well so you don’t arrive too late at the airport.
The Netherland: Hotel in Utrecht.
Ibis Budget Schipol
As the name implies, this hotel is the budget version of the Hotel Ibis. But make no mistake, this hotel is no less comfortable, clean, and nice. The receptionist is also friendly and quick in serving customers.
The most important thing is that this hotel provides bunk beds. My son loves the bunk beds. He always prefers to sleep on top while my husband and I sleep on the single bed below it.
We experienced staying in other Ibis Budget in other cities. In my opinion, the layout of Ibis Budget rooms in different cities is the same. The only difference between one and the other is the size of the room. Based on our experience, our stay in Ibis Budget Schipol was quite satisfactory. From the window of our room, we could see the runaway of Schiphol airport.

Hotel Ibis Schipol
Both hotels are located next to each other. From the entrance gate of the hotel area, the first building you see is the Hotel Ibis. The Ibis Budget is located behind this hotel. Since there are two hotels, they provide a large car park. The parking fee per night is 19 Euros.
We stayed in Hotel Ibis because it has rooms for 4 people. The room was so spacious that big suitcases could be placed well without disturbing us as we walked around the room.
We were lucky enough to get a room located on the 1st floor. The room overlooks the entrance of the hotel area. From the window, we could also see a row of planes moving at the airport.
What I also liked about Hotel Ibis Schipol is they provided the hotel guests with free tea or coffee for 24 hours. The service could be found on the ground floor in front of the front office table. I hope the hotel still offers the service.

If you are looking for hotels near the Schipol Amsterdam airport area, believe me, there are many of them. We prefer to stay in one of the Accor hotels, either Ibis Budget Schipol or Hotel Ibis Schipol.
If I want to stay at one of these hotels, I usually check out the Accor website. The prices offered for members are mostly cheaper than the prices seen on general accommodation search sites. Registering to become an Accor member is not difficult as long as you follow the instructions on the website.
